2) Getting the Drive to be recognised:

This I divided into 2 parts for people who hook it up directly to a SATA Port on their PC(2.1) or people who use a USB-SATA Adapter(2.2).

If you have problems all the time I recommend a USB SATA Adapter very important one WITH an external Power supply!
They are really AWESOME! Using a normal PC drives you insane with these there are so many stupid settings and you need to restart the PC all the time. With the USB Adapters all you need to do is plug it out and back in if something messes up. So if you dont know what else to do try this, almost guaranteed to work, much less problems really...

2.1) Direct SATA Connection to a PC(NOT USING USB)

If not done yet connect the power and SATA cable to the drive.

The PC is still switched OFF here, you now use the ON-OFF Switch on the power dongle and change it to ON( 1) ). Please note the light will not light up because the PC is still OFF.

Now you can switch the PC on, the Drive should now also get power(LED lights up blue) and usually you should also see the drive already in the list when the PC switches on, DVD-Drive(Liteon DG-16D2S or something like that). It doesnt show it there all the time and not for all PCs so no worries if you dont see anything.

Now wait for Windows to start up fully etc.

Then when Windows is done, first thing you do is CLOSE ALL PROGRAMS, so that everythings is gone and then insert an ORIGINAL Xbox 360 Game, it MUST BE ORIGINAL, there is NO POINT READING OUT BACKUPS it doesnt work!

To eject the drive, remember, to press it very carefully so that it doesnt lose power, it is VERY IMPORTANT, read Step 1) if you havent, its all explained there!

Then wait(about 30 seconds), the drive should make some reading noises. At latest the drive should now be recognised by the PC because its sending Data.
Sometimes you see it under My Computer, sometimes you dont, if you do its a good sign. At latest you should find it in the list in Xbox Backup Creator.

If it doesnt get recognised at all the most common reason is that the power dongle got loose, so start again at 1) and double check everything, unplug other DVD Drives that could cause problems, do the BIOS Settings, control cabels and retry.

Now you are done and can proceed to 3)!

2.2) USB Connection to a PC or Laptop(Using a USB-SATA Adapter)

Notice here: Dont use a crap adapter, DVD Drives need a lot of power and require a separate power supply, so if you got one of these cheap small ones without a power supply you cant use them they only work for small harddrives.

The PC should be freshly restarted, close all problems which could slow the PC down so that they cant cause trouble.

If not done yet, connect the drive to the USB-SATA Adapter, connect the Power cable and the SATA cable. Please note the Drive is still OFF, means the power dongle switch is set to OFF and the LED doesnt illuminate blue light.

Now you can switch on the Drive ON with the ON-OFF switch on the power dongle, the LED should now light up blue.

Try unplugging the USB and plugging it back in after every try.

Now you are done and can proceed to 3)!
